Inspired Print Solutions creates the best seats in the house at Connexin Live
ASM Global’s Connexin Live is a 3,500-capacity state-of-the-art music and events complex for concerts and live events in Hull. In September 2024, Inspired Print Solutions completed a design and shopfitting project to create Hull’s new premium hospitality offering, the Live Lounge. The creation of the Live Lounge marks the venue's most significant investment since it opened in 2018.
The brief
The client wanted to create a premium and memorable experience for its VIP clients.
The process
Initially, IPS laser scanned the spaces and created a 3D model of the arena. We added the creative elements to the space and presented the vision to the client so they could see exactly what the proposed branding was. The 3D model was honed and perfected through rounds of client feedback and this proof-of-concept model was used to sell in the project internally as well as to brief contractors and implement the final design.
The results
The IPS joinery team designed and created privacy screens/room dividers, the existing bar and floor were sanded, stained and repaired. The bar front was clad with ash panels stained to resemble walnut.
Bespoke furniture designed and fabricated by IPS took the form of circular seating booths.
A stainless-steel bar was overclad using a solid surface material, HI-Macs, which was bonded, sanded and polished to look like one piece. IPS managed the relationship with the bar fabricators, helping to push the design within the timescales.
A sumptuous ambience was achieved with dark lighting and red LEDs.
IPS printed and installed hundreds of metres of wall vinyls in the arena bowl alongside dichroic window film, architectural vinyl and dibond panels.
The response
Sam Ryder, general manager of Connexin Live, said: “This is a significant investment to improve the customer experience at Connexin Live and I am excited to build on the success we have seen with our on-site restaurant.
“Connexin Live continues to be a huge success, bringing huge names to Hull. With Texas, Paul Smith and Paul Weller amongst the artists coming to the venue this autumn we are looking forward to welcoming more people to elevate their experiences at the venue.”
The transformation has been well received, with The Hull Story claiming the Live Lounge is “As good as it gets”.
Hull Live dubbed the experience “quite the treat” and commented it had a “distinctively classy atmosphere”.
