In the bustling halls of The NEC, Birmingham, Inspired Print Solutions completed a breath-taking project to transform the restaurant in Hall 3.
The world of gastronomy is constantly evolving, with innovative concepts taking centre stage. In keeping with this trend, the project mission was to transition the retail unit from a traditional Italian restaurant to a dynamic, quick-service, industrial street food concept, known as StrEAT Kitchen.
Sustainable options
NEC Group catering has sustainability at its heart and Inspired Print Solutions kept that in mind when actualising this dream. Using CAD cut acrylic, IPS was able to change the colour of the existing lighting without needlessly replacing it. Throughout the project, Inspired Print Solutions used sustainable options wherever possible, such as UPVC free vinyls and recyclable acrylic and metalwork.
Materials
The transformation unfolded over a three-week installation period and required the use of specific architectural films to achieve the desired effect. Cover Styl’s U10 dark concrete was used to create the industrial ambiance, with VION Dichroic strategically applied to enhance the windows, achieving the dynamic street food theme. The concrete Cover Styl’ is not only visually appealing but also practical, being wipeable and flame-resistant, crucial features for a catering unit.
From the eye-catching wall design printed on aluminium treadplate to the hand-sprayed graffiti oil drum tables, Inspired Print Solutions delivered a concept capturing the theatre and excitement of street food in an exhibition setting.

Everything you see in StrEAT Kitchen, we made. From the fabrication of the bespoke metal cages to the electrics and the woodwork.”
Results
Street food is synonymous with authentic flavours and the vibrant energy of bustling streets. Inspired Print Solutions worked with the creative minds at the NEC Group to capture that very essence while presenting it in a way that complements the refined ambiance of the NEC. The result? A striking retail space, adaptable for many different street food concepts
